Site Reliability Engineer OpenStack Cloud (m/f/d)

Your mission

As a Public Cloud provider, we offer a diverse range of services on a distributed platform in our data centers in Germany. As a Site Reliability Engineer, you will be part of our international team, focusing on enhancing our IaaS solution, particularly in the OpenStack domain. Your responsibilities involve tackling various complex technical challenges to ensure the stability and performance of our IaaS core components. This includes integrating different software systems, conducting problem analyses, engaging in deep reverse engineering, and developing tools. Collaboration with other teams is essential to enhance customer satisfaction.

Your tasks

  • Planning and implementation of IaaS solutions using OpenStack, Linux KVM, and QEMU
  • Automation of IT tasks and configuration management with Ansible, as well as the implementation of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform and Packer
  • Integration and management of Ceph to support distributed storage solutions
  • Development and integration of new features and services into the cloud platform, taking into account Cumulus IP Fabric, Open vSwitch, OVN, BGP, eVPN, and VXLAN
  • Setting up and managing databases (MariaDB and Galera), messaging systems (RabbitMQ), and service management (ZooKeeper)

Requirements

  • Strong system-level technical skills and a deep understanding of Linux internals
  • Experience in building and operating highly available applications in cloud environments or on-premises
  • Ideally, experience with distributed storage systems such as Ceph
  • Good Python knowledge and, ideally, additional proficiency in system languages like C or Golang.
  • General network knowledge, including routing and switching, and an understanding of common TCP/IP stack protocols
  • Fluent in English
